You can't fence 24 hours a day, but you can train
In the beginning, if you wanted to get good at fencing, you could either fence, or read a book. Then along came Fencing Footage, and you could either fence, read a book, or watch fencing videos. Now comes the next big step in fencing training:

(Trust us. It's big.)

Getting good takes time… or does it?
Even if you want to get very, very good, you're limited to how much you can train. Outside of the fencing club, you can watch fencing videos, or read a fencing book. Most fencers have at least one book about fencing… page after page of diagrams: This is a lunge. This is a parry 4. But what if you need more?

Fencing tactics, the way you need them
Roughly 113 video clips, sorted by tactic. Simply pop the CD-ROM into your computer, open it up in a web browser, and start clicking. The Foil Fencing Actions CD-ROM is a brand-new, cutting-edge training tool for fencers who need more.

Each clip features the world's greatest men's and women's fencers, including Romankov, Endres, Wessels, Rui, Shevchenko, and Youvetchka. Italians like Vezzali, Vanni, Cassara, Sanzo. Germans like Bissdorf, Fichtel and Funkenhauser. Americans like Bayer and Kellner. Learn your Behrs and Baus, your Kochs and Koretskis. Get your Gregorys, Gruchalas, and Golubitskys. (Only some of these fencers are designated by name in the CD-ROM.)

Feedback from all levels

Craig Harkins (A01)

This CD-ROM provides a great view into the much overlooked area of fencing strategy. What this product does is take fencing instruction past the "this is how you execute a proper parry-4" and into the strategies and tactics that work in the bout. This CD-ROM provides nuggets of information that can
benefit any fencer — from U up to A level.

G Strickland (C03)

The advice and footage of high-level fencing is inspiring. It makes you want to try the tricks and traps for yourself. It also gives a new perspective of the upper levels. The actions are very good examples of the points described. The common mistakes made by the fencers prove that Olympians are people too.

A Kunhle (D03)

Flaschka has a very solid grasp of strategy. Throughout this tutorial, one encounters an excellent, tactics-based discussion with corresponding video clips. This will truly get you to the next level, no matter if you're an intermediate or advanced fencer.

V Reithel (E03)

Using this sort of interactive learning tool brings the analytical side of fencing up close and personal. Viewing the specific actions shown on the movie clips helps a fencer develop a better understanding of the tactical environment that is hard to study away from the gym otherwise.

J Oliverius (D04)

This CD-ROM has been an incredible weapon in my fencing arsenal. It has actually grown with me as my fencing ability has improved, thus giving me seemingly neverending use from it. The comments accompanying the video are very informative and do not detract from the action being shown. I highly recommend purchasing this great product *gives thumbs up*.

Clear, easy explanations and icons
Each video clip is followed by a 3-6 paragraph discussion of the action. The discussion shows what the fencers are doing, and why, and explains what can be done to defend against them.

Each video clip comes with icons of lights and director's hands, to make sure the action is clear. The director's call is included under the video clip.

A training guide that lets you trust yourself
Watch the fencing action with your own eyes, play it over and over (even go frame by frame!), internalize it, and then draw your own conclusions. When you (or an opponent) brings the action to the strip, you'll know exactly what you want to do.

Videos on your computer
Videos are encoded in Apple QuickTime. QuickTime is free, and available on both Mac and Windows® computers. QuickTime lets you stop and start the clip in the middle, move frame by frame, or even play the movie backwards!
