1989 World Championships Men's Sabre Individual Final
The first Electric Sabre World Championships was in 1989. Although the crossover was allowed and there was this crazy thing called priority, it is a very exciting final. The finalist include Peter Westbrook (USA) who is currently retired after his 6th Olympics in 1996. Westbrook was the Bronze Medal Winner in the 1984 Olympics and now heads up the Peter Westbrook Foundations giving free fencing lessons to youths on Saturdays at the New York Fencers Club in New York City. It also features many of the current American top Sabre Coaches such as Jaroslaw Koniusz (POL) and Vasil Etropolski (BUL). Other finalists include Kirienko (RUS), Koeves (HUN) and Becker (GER). The video has slow motions replays and English Commentary (which helps with the calls). This historic footage is a keeper!
